Hello everyone! How was your day? It feels like we’re transitioning from the end of April into May. I hope you all have a healthy week. Today, let’s embark on another culinary adventure! We’re heading to the cafeteria at the Seoul Guarantee Insurance Mapo Branch, located at 163, Mapo-daero, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It’s about 528 meters from Aeogae Station, Exit 1. Don’t forget to subscribe and like!
They say everything starts with a book. Reading one good book might not change your life immediately, but it leads to another, and another. Gradually, knowledge and insight accumulate, leading to unexpected results. Over time, you become a different person. And all of it started with just one book. Similarly, a great lunch can change your day!
Finding the Restaurant
The cafeteria, known as the “Gunhae Restaurant”, is conveniently situated about 528 meters from both Aeogae Station and Gongdeok Station. It’s easily accessible. The restaurant is located on the first basement floor. Enter the building, turn left, and take the stairs down. You’ll see the signs guiding you to the Gunhae Restaurant.
Let’s head down the stairs to the basement. You’ll find clear signs indicating the way to the Gunhae Restaurant, making it easy to find. The Seoul Guarantee Insurance cafeteria takes up a large space in the center of the hall. There are separate sections for employees and visitors.
Affordable and Delicious!
A single meal costs only ₩6,500! For less than ₩7,000, you can enjoy a delicious lunch. The day’s menu is displayed, and today it looks especially tasty. They also have clear country-of-origin labeling for the ingredients.
Grab a meal ticket, insert it into the designated box, and enter. Delicious side dishes await you! From Okonomiyaki chicken cutlets to mixed grain rice, it all looks incredibly appetizing. Sesame oil buckwheat noodles and seasoned bean sprouts are also on the menu. The chicken cutlet looks particularly appealing.
The cafeteria welcomes outside guests, so feel free to come and enjoy a meal anytime.
The Menu
The menu includes kimchi, a staple in Korean cuisine, which looks beautifully colored and appetizing. Seasoned bean sprouts are also available today. Sesame oil buckwheat noodles are frequently seen on menus these days. The sesame oil buckwheat noodles offer a refreshing and tasty option. Cabbage salad is also available, so feel free to add some salad to your plate. The meal service is self-serve. Many people were enjoying their meals, so I waited for the crowd to thin out before filming.
The food isn’t heavily seasoned, but it’s perfectly enjoyable. In terms of value for money, I’d give it a 4.3 out of 4.5 – excellent!
Operating Hours
The Shin Yongboheom (Credit Guarantee Insurance) lunch hours are from 11:20 AM to 1:30 PM.

Google Search & Assessment of the Location
Let’s take a look at what Google search reveals about the area and similar establishments. Searching for “restaurants near 서울 마포구 마포대로 163” (restaurants near 163, Mapo-daero, Mapo-gu, Seoul) shows a variety of options, ranging from Korean cuisine to international flavors. However, what sets the Seoul Guarantee Insurance cafeteria apart is its affordability and the fact that it’s a generally unknown, hidden gem, offering a quick and budget-friendly meal in a busy business district. Google Reviews are not generally available for employee cafeterias catering to the public, however, the value proposition of a ₩6,500 lunch is highly attractive given the typical restaurant prices in the Mapo district.
Based on general knowledge and similar corporate cafeterias which are open to the public, we can assess that the appeal is mainly in:
- Price: Significantly cheaper than typical restaurants.
- Speed: Efficient service for a quick lunch.
- Variety: Usually offers a balanced and diverse menu.
- Accessibility: Convenient for those working or visiting the building/area.
Therefore, if you are looking for a tasty and inexpensive meal near Aeogae or Gongdeok station, this cafeteria is worth considering!
