Myeongseong Buffet: A New Korean Food Gem Near Nambu Terminal Station
Hello everyone! Welcome to our channel. Today, we’re exploring a brand new Korean buffet (한식 뷔페) located near Nambu Terminal Station in Seoul. I recently visited this spot and wanted to share my experience with you. It’s called Myeongseong Buffet (명성 뷔페), and it offers a variety of dishes at a reasonable price.
Finding Myeongseong Buffet
The buffet is conveniently located near Nambu Terminal Station (남부터미널역). Specifically, it’s about 584 meters from Exit 6. Here are the directions:
- Exit Nambu Terminal Station through Exit 6.
- Walk straight.
- Continue straight until you reach the Seoul Arts Center (예술의 전당) intersection.
- Turn right and continue walking.
- You’ll find the buffet down a small alleyway.
Keep in mind that there may be construction in the area, so you might see a lot of construction workers dining there.
Google Maps Location Assessment:
Before diving into my review, let’s take a quick look at what Google Maps shows for restaurants near Nambu Terminal Station. A quick search reveals several Korean restaurants, including some highly-rated options. To assess Myeongseong Buffet more accurately, we’d need its specific Google Maps listing with customer reviews. In general, the area seems to offer a diverse range of Korean cuisine, from casual eateries to more upscale dining experiences. I would encourage anyone looking to visit to search “Myeongseong Buffet Nambu Terminal” on Google Maps for up-to-date reviews and photos.
What’s on the Menu?
Myeongseong Buffet boasts a selection of over ten different dishes. During my visit, the offerings included:
- Salad
- Mixed grain rice (잡곡밥) and white rice (백미밥)
- Bacon stir-fry (베이컨 볶음) – a unique and flavorful dish!
- Udon noodles with stir-fried fish cakes (우동사리와 어묵볶음)
- Kimchi (김치)
- Quail egg stew (매추리알 조림)
- Minari (water dropwort) salad (미나리 겉절이)
One of the highlights was the combination of black bean sauce (짜장) and udon noodles. The udon texture was excellent, and many diners were enjoying the jjajang either with the noodles or over rice.
For dessert, they even had fresh tomatoes!
My Dining Experience
I started with the mixed grain rice and tried a little bit of everything. The bacon stir-fry was definitely a standout. The quail egg stew was a nostalgic treat. I also enjoyed the minari salad, which added a refreshing element to the meal. And of course, the jjajang udon was a must-try!
They also had a separate pot of udon broth, so you could add udon noodles to create a warm noodle soup.
Atmosphere and Ambiance
The buffet has two floors. I visited during a quieter time, so I was able to take some videos and pictures. In the evening, they also offer samgyeopsal (pork belly) with soju. I noticed that soju was priced at ₩3,000, which is quite reasonable.
They also have a toaster and bread available, so you can make toast.
Pricing
The price for one meal at the buffet is ₩8,500. I was pleased with the size of the tray, which allowed me to sample everything I wanted.
Final Thoughts
Myeongseong Buffet is a solid choice for a quick and affordable Korean meal near Nambu Terminal Station. The variety of dishes and reasonable price make it a good option for both locals and travelers. The owner mentioned that they offer even more delicious side dishes during the weekdays, so I’d recommend visiting on a weekday if possible. They are open until Saturday.
One thing I have noticed is that lunch prices, in general, are increasing lately. It will be interesting to see how Myeongseong Buffet fares in the future.
