Hanyang Hoegwan: Korean BBQ You Won’t Believe!
Hello everyone! Get ready to be amazed! Today, I’m introducing a restaurant that’s perfect for family dinners, company gatherings, friend meetups, and all sorts of occasions. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. You can enjoy delicious beef at a lower price than pork belly (Samgyeopsal)! And, get this: if you order 4 servings, they give you another 4 servings absolutely free! It’s unbelievable!
But wait, there’s more! They make their own high-quality marinated shrimp, serve huge braised pollack (Kodarichim), flavorful soybean paste stew (Doenjang-jjigae), and a fluffy steamed egg (Gyeran-jjim) – all as complimentary side dishes! And the best part? My subscribers get a special service that you won’t believe! This place is a steal, and you’d be missing out if you don’t go. Keep watching until the end because I have an incredible subscriber event announcement that will blow your mind. Even my left-handed friend was so satisfied that he went on a rare spending spree! I only promote verified places, so trust me on this one!
Location and Atmosphere
Today’s featured restaurant is Hanyang Hoegwan, a beef BBQ place in Yonghyeon-dong, Incheon. The amazing value is possible because the owner owns the building! It’s located in the Yonghyeon-dong Land Bank commercial area on the 2nd floor. The building itself belongs to the owner. Unfortunately, a large tree is blocking the sign, and it’s backlit, so I took a side shot as well. There’s a convenience store on the 1st floor, so you can grab a snack before or after. You could even go to the basement for some karaoke after your meal!
Let’s head inside Hanyang Hoegwan!
Inside Hanyang Hoegwan
The interior is spacious, making it suitable for gatherings. The building seems a bit old, but the inside is very clean. There are also floor seating areas (where you take off your shoes) in the back, which are great for group dinners. They even have charging stations for both iPhones and Androids, and after-meal candies, which is a nice touch. I’ll explain this coupon later.
The Menu and the Deal
This restaurant only serves USDA Prime beef, the highest grade of American beef. The prices are reasonable at 150g per serving. But here’s the kicker: if you order 4 servings (which would normally cost ₩68,000 for 600g), they give you another 4 servings FREE! That’s 1.2kg (8 servings) in total! Ordering individual servings doesn’t make sense with this deal.
The difference between the “So Han Mari” (Beef Whole Set) and the “VIP Special” is the grade of beef. The “So Han Mari” is a mix of Prime and CAB (Certified Angus Beef), while the “VIP Special” is 100% Prime, the highest quality available that day. I’m going to try the VIP Special today. To show you a variety, I’m also adding a Korean beef (Hanwoo) Yukhoe (beef tartare) set.
The Sides!
The side dishes started arriving. The marinated shrimp (Saeu-jang) is the most noticeable. There’s also green onion salad mixed with lettuce and pickled myongyi leaves. There’s more to come, so stay tuned! Soon, the main course, the VIP Special, arrived! This includes top sirloin, ribeye, and chuck flap tail. It’s a massive amount, 1.2kg. The Prime beef, aged for a long time, looks fantastic.
Next, the braised pollack (Kodarichim) came out. It’s covered in red sauce and is almost as big as my forearm! Then came the soybean paste stew (Doenjang-jjigae) and steamed egg (Gyeran-jjim). The steamed egg is a huge, overflowing pot. The soybean paste stew is so good that it could easily cost ₩4,000. The beef is cheap, but the quality of the side dishes is unbelievably high! The self-service corner has additional side dishes like pickled vegetables, pickled radish, and lettuce that aren’t on the tables. You can take as much as you want.
They make all the side dishes themselves. The marinated shrimp is flavorful without being too salty. The braised pollack is the star dish. The flesh is tender and moist, and the sauce is amazing. It would be delicious with rice. The soybean paste stew is also quite flavorful, and the steamed egg tastes like, well, steamed egg! Each of these side dishes is good enough to sell individually, but they’re all complimentary! The owner must really own the building.
The Korean beef (Hanwoo) Yukhoe (beef tartare) also arrived. If you order it individually, it’s ₩23,000, but it’s ₩17,000 as a set. So, this whole spread – 1.2kg of beef, 200g of Hanwoo Yukhoe, and all the side dishes – costs less than ₩100,000!
The Yukhoe is, of course, delicious because it’s Hanwoo. If you don’t want the Yukhoe, you can just order the So Han Mari or the VIP Special.
Tasting the Beef
Of course, taste is subjective, but the owner recommended starting with the ribeye and then the chuck flap tail, so that’s what I did. After that, I tried the top sirloin and then the short rib. I’ve always thought that USDA Prime beef is as good as Hanwoo. Of course, I’m not comparing it to Hanwoo 1++ grade, but I think the highest grade of American beef is often better than low-grade Hanwoo. And it was as good as I expected.
If you calculate it with the So Han Mari set, it costs around ₩5,600 per 100g. With the VIP Special, it’s around ₩6,500 per 100g. Isn’t that cheaper than pork belly these days? At this price and quality, you can’t help but be satisfied. The heat is very strong, so you can quickly sear the meat and enjoy the juicy flavors.
Again, I’m not comparing it to Hanwoo 1++, because the price difference is too great. But compared to lower grades of Hanwoo, I would definitely choose this beef, considering the price, taste, and everything else. I expected the ribeye and chuck flap tail to be delicious, and honestly, just looking at the top sirloin, I thought it would be dry. But it was actually the most marbled and most delicious! Based on my taste, the top sirloin was the best of the four cuts today. It’s truly a taste that doesn’t make you miss Hanwoo.
Also, the generous 1.2kg is enough for three or four adults to enjoy fully.
Side Dishes: Noodles!
I can’t skip the side dishes, so I ordered one Mul-naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) and one Bibim-naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). The cold noodles are also great. The Mul-naengmyeon is a standard BBQ restaurant cold noodle dish that everyone will like. But the Bibim-naengmyeon is the real winner. They make the sauce themselves, so it’s spicy and different from other BBQ restaurant cold noodles. It’s better than most cold noodle specialty restaurants.
Google Search Assessment
I performed a Google search for “한양회관 용현동” (Hanyang Hoegwan Yonghyeon-dong). The search results show positive reviews and blog posts about the restaurant, emphasizing the value for money and quality of the beef. Many reviews highlight the generous portion sizes and delicious side dishes. The restaurant also has a presence on Naver (Korean search engine), with good ratings and reviews. Overall, the Google search results confirm that Hanyang Hoegwan is a popular and well-regarded Korean BBQ restaurant in Yonghyeon-dong.
