This charming district in northwest Seoul is filled with delightful backstreets and culinary treasures just waiting to be discovered. I’ve already created eight videos showcasing Eunpyeong-gu, and as a resident, I’m always happy to share my favorite spots.

So, let’s dive straight into the heart of Eunpyeong’s food scene! I hope you find these recommendations helpful, and if you do, please give this post a thumbs up!

1. Heotji Mullungdo: A Taste of Ulluengdo’s Seafood in Seoul

Located within a 10-minute walk from Yeokcheon Station (Exit 4), Heotji Mullungdo offers incredibly fresh and generous portions of moolhwe (spicy raw fish soup). The restaurant’s interior is adorned with photos of Ulluengdo, immediately transporting you to the refreshing seaside.

Besides moolhwe, their hwarae (live flounder) and spicy fish stew are also popular choices. Keep in mind that raw fish is only available during the winter months. The side dishes are delicious and the thinly pan-fried pancakes and seasoned soybean paste exude a heartfelt touch.

Their signature moolhwe is packed with seafood and slices of fresh fish. The thick slices of fish have a delightful chewiness, and the combination of noodles, tangy broth, and crunchy radish is absolutely invigorating. The price is a bit steep, but the generous portions of moolhwe make it well worth it. In the summer, it’s a cooling and nourishing treat, and in the winter, it’s like a warm hug against the cold wind. If you’re looking for authentic moolhwe in Eunpyeong-gu, Heotji Mullungdo is a must-visit!

The pork is cooked directly in the pot, allowing the sauce to permeate evenly, resulting in an explosion of flavorful sauce in every bite.

Rice is ordered separately, but mixing it with the flavorful sauce is highly recommended. The variety of side dishes creates a complete and satisfying meal. Cockles, boiled pork slices, and stews are also popular choices. The friendly staff adds to the overall enjoyable experience, making Yeosu House the perfect spot for a hearty meal and a drink.
