Discover Sangbong’s Hidden Gem: Authentic Sundae-guk Restaurant Near Sangbong Station (Soon to be Featured on Muk-tel-ende!)

Hello food lovers! Today, I’m excited to share a true hidden gem in Sangbong, Seoul: a fantastic 순대국 (Sundae-guk) restaurant that I’ve been frequenting for late-night cravings. And guess what? This 맛집 (delicious restaurant) is about to get famous! Keep reading to find out why you need to visit Sangbong Sundae-guk Restaurant right now!

Location and Atmosphere

Located just a stone’s throw away from Sangbong Station Exit 4, this restaurant boasts a slightly unassuming exterior. Don’t let the humble look fool you – it’s a beloved local spot with a long history of serving up delicious Korean comfort food. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal, especially after a long day or a night out.

Must-Try Menu Items

While they offer a variety of comforting Korean dishes like 순댓국 (Sundae-guk) and 내장탕 (Naejang-tang – offal soup) for meals, their 안주 (anju – side dishes for drinks) menu truly shines. Think 내장수육 (Naejang Suyuk – boiled offal), 고기모듬 (Gogi Modeum – assorted meat platter), and 오소리감투 (Osari Gamtu – pig’s stomach). Personally, I often come here for late-night rounds and indulge in their 술국 (Sulguk – soup for drinking) or 수육 (Suyuk – boiled pork).

Sulguk (Soup for Drinking)

The Sulguk here is a must-try if you’re with a group of three or more. Served in a generous earthenware pot, slightly larger than a Sundae-guk bowl, it’s packed with flavor. Mix in the 다데기 (Daedagi – spicy seasoning paste) to your liking, and you’ll get a rich, slightly spicy, and incredibly satisfying soup. It’s the perfect companion for 소주 (soju)!

Suyuk (Boiled Pork) & Osari Gamtu (Pig Stomach)

For a truly delightful experience, order their 수육 (Suyuk). You can even get it half and half with 오소리감투 (Osari Gamtu), a chewy and flavorful pig’s stomach. The Suyuk is incredibly moist, almost as if it’s just been boiled. The meat is tender and flavorful, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture, especially the fatty parts. If you prefer less pork skin flavor, opt for the Suyuk and ask to add Osari Gamtu separately. They also offer 고기모듬 (Gogi Modeum) which includes Suyuk with added 순대 (Sundae – Korean sausage) and other 내장 (Naejang – offal) parts.

Side Dishes & Service

The basic side dishes are simple yet essential: 깍두기 (Kkakdugi – diced radish kimchi), 김치 (Kimchi), 새우젓 (Saeujeot – salted shrimp), and 마늘 (Garlic). They have a convenient self-service bar for easy refills. What truly makes this place special is the incredibly kind and welcoming owners. Their friendly service always adds to the enjoyable dining experience.

Breaking News: Sung Si-kyung’s Visit!

Now for the breaking news! While I was filming my review, the owner shared that none other than Sung Si-kyung, the famous Korean singer and foodie, is scheduled to film at their restaurant tomorrow for his popular food show, “Muk-tel-ende”! This means this hidden gem is about to become incredibly popular.

Don’t Miss Out!

So, here’s my recommendation: visit Sangbong Sundae-guk Restaurant as soon as possible, before the crowds flock in after Sung Si-kyung’s feature. Experience the authentic flavors and warm hospitality of this local 맛집 before everyone else does. You won’t regret it!
